Layla Boxes and Balloon Release

This past Saturday I went to Layla Grace's Celebration of Life Memorial Service. It was beautiful but harder than I expected... way WAY harder. Her slideshow of pictures and the songs sung... just wow. And then someone read a poem I'd read before about God lending your child to you and not getting bitter when He calls them home. It was beautiful. I wish I knew the name of it. The words are heart-wrenching.

Anyway... here are some pictures of the balloon release held after outside. It was a perfect, yet sad sad day...

Right after the service, I headed for Hobby Lobby to get some supplies for the Layla boxes. Here are some of the things I bought to decorate the boxes. I also bought letters of the girls names... I thought it would be fun to decorate these and put them inside the boxes.

And here are the boxes so far... day one... not much to look at... yet! :)

I can only imagine how hard it must have been to attend Layla's Celebration of Life Memorial Service. The pictures that you posted of the balloon release are beautiful.

I love the ideas you have for the boxes! The letters will be such a nice touch. You are so creative. I am looking forward to seeing them finished.

I need some inspiration / motivation to get working on the boxes I have here that need to be decorated and filled up. Can't wait to see what you do with yours.

I must've missed the story but you're the second person who mentioned this little girl's name. My computer has been acting up lately so I'm way behind on blogging and everything, not to mention I've been pretty busy lately with the "Great Purge of 2010 and my work.

I can't even begin to think of how hard it must've been to go to a memorial service for another baby. I've been avoiding all funerals like the plague, afraid I wouldn't be able to keep it together.

It sounds like the service was just lovely.

how beautiful indeed. i too can only imagine how hard facing another little one's funeral must have been. I prayed for little layla, as did so many. My heart is simply broken for her family. The boxes are beautiful. I know that her family will love them when they are done.
