I know things would be so different if God had chosen to heal her. I remember Pete telling me before we were expecting Jenna, that he wanted to also buy roses for our daughter(s) if we ever had any on Valentine's Day. It melted my heart and I grew to love this man even more.
But there probably won't be any real roses for Jenna, and there probably wouldn't have been this Valentine's Day since she would only be nine months. But I want to do something special for her... tomorrow is her (would-be) nine month old birthday.
I don't want it to be all tears either. I can't tell you how tired I am of crying. Maybe that sounds bad, but I feel like I am just coming out of a horrible spell of the blues. I know whether I cry or laugh, smile or frown, forget some things or chart them all down... deep down inside my love for her LIVES.
So back to Valentine's Day...
How are some of you incorporating your baby(ies) into this holiday? If you don't mind sharing, I would love to hear your ideas. The challenge on Still Life really has me thinking (thanks Angie for the challenge!) and I want to do something special. I want it to be something that I can do with my husband and hopefully other children one day, in our home. I will probably decorate her graveside with some silk roses or red gerberas and Valentine's Day memorabilia but I have come to realize that she isn't there.

I think it's lovely to decorate Jenna's gravesite, Franchesca. I think it's such a sweet thing you're doing to honor her, too.
I really don't know yet what I'll do for Valentines Day, if anything. Hmmm
We took a beautiful little pink stained glass heart with a wind chime in the middle of it to the cememtary today. The chimes are so tiny and pink, they make the most beautiful noise.
We are also having some friends over on the 13th (we met 6 years ago on that day) and while I think most of aren't going to be bringing their kids, we will probably write love letters to them.
We also have a little heart candle we will light on the 14th.
Ok, the thought of your husband buying your daughter roses on valentines day just melts my heart. You are lucky.
For us, the 13th of every month is when we celebrate the babies, since that's when they were born. We have ice cream :) I'll be checking back to see what others suggest for Valentines.
Sweet hubby! **tears** I havent thought about Valentines either, as their birthday is consuming my thoughts right now. Great post though, I know it will help many :) xoxoxo
I love the idea of wind chimes. I may have to steal that. I also like the love notes to our children! What a great way to list the things we love about them. I may have to do that too! ;o)
My only thought was that I bought a flower wind mill that I was going to go put by her grave. To see the wind move, reminds me that things still exsist, even when I can't see them...
Hmmmm....John and I never celebrate Valentine's Day (it's just SUCH a disappointing day regardless, so we don't bother!) so I don't know that we'd do anything for Matthew. Then I read your blog and the comments and am compelled to think about it. I'm curious to see what all people do...and what we'll do as well!
Last year we took two pink windsocks that are covered with hearts out to the cemetery, and surprisingly they survived so they will are going back out this weekend. Also we have a neighbor that makes wood signs on sticks and she painted two small hearts with the girl’s names on them so those will be going out as well.
And if the weather is nice next Sunday we will go out to the cemetery for a while.
I actually hadn't thought too much about V-Day yet. But now you have me thinking! I'll have to keep checking back to see what comments people leave!
Thinking of you and your beautiful Jenna Belle, on her 9 month birthday. xo
I hadn't given much thought to what I would do for Jonathan for Valentine's Day.
I gotta think about that. Thank you for that challenge. :)
